If you have just stumbled across this forum, don't be surprised - its new.
So please introduce yourself, especially if you own or sail a Sunrise.
I am Roger, I have started these forums as I could find so little information about the Solaris Sunrise 36 on the web, and as far as I can tell there is no active class association.
I own Catkin and she is currently based at Conwy Marina in North Wales.
She was completed in 1989 which I believe makes her one of the earliest boats and was fitted out by Upsons in Aldeburgh.

Hi to all reading this. We have owned our Solaris Sunrise Jadzia for 2 years. We have really enjoyed her and are on board every weekend throughout the year and for 2 weeks cruising in the summer (starting this coming Saturday by coincidence). We keep her in Cobbs Quay marina in Poole. Reading the other data published on this site, I get the impression that later Sunrise's were built as Sports. Jadzia was completed in 2001 by the previous owner but she is not a Sport. Our information is that she was moulded in 1999/2000 and towed to Bembridge I.O.W. to be fitted out, verified by the original documentation in our possession. Her twin Beta 20hp diesels drive her home should we need the 'iron topsails', and make her very manouverable under power, but we try to sail as much as possible. She certainly sails better than our previous cat, a Catalac 8m. We will post again when time permits, possibly during our cruise. Fair winds to you all, enjoy your season.
Jadzia.

Welcome aboard, its good to see people are finding their way to the site, I guess its starting to show up in the search engines now.
Coming from monohulls its interesting to hear the Solaris sails better than the Catalac - I still haven't worked out a way to sail upwind effectively.
Catkin has twin 18hp Yanmars with saildrives and I agree the manouverability is amazing

Found the website by 'googling' Solaris Sunrise. Used to come up with boats for sale, now comes up with this site, plus boats for sale! We moved from sailing half boats (monohulls) a few years ago after chartering a cat in Tenerife one Christmas to go whale watching. After a day of that the crew (my wife) mutinied and announced that we would be changing to a multihull when we returned home (no heeling, not getting wet, how picky!). We eventually decided on an 8m Catalac due to budget and restricted mooring facilities. After 5 years of Catalac ownership we decided to take the plunge and buy a bigger cat. It came down to a Prout 37 or the Sunrise. The Prout didn't have proper double berths, so the Sunrise it was!! We had seen Jadzia the year before we bought her on the beach at Bembridge, IOW. We had beached our Catalac to give her a scrub whilst on holiday, and the owners of Jadzia beached her alongside us. They announced that they used to own one like ours, we declared that we wanted to own one like theirs! A year later and we found Jadzia for sale, and the rest is history. We have not travelled any great distance in her, unlike her previous owners, but we really enjoy the space and comfort she provides. Our summer cruise starting this Saturday will probably see us going from Poole where we keep her to Chichester, stopping en route at as many places as we feel we want to. But isn't that what cruising is all about? Fair winds, Nigel and Sheila.

I have recently joined the site having been told of it by rogermorgan. I was the person who bought Dazzler from him in 1996, using my Solaris Sunbeam 'Kittywake' in part exchange. Since then we have sailed over 10,000 miles in her. She is berthed in Haslar Marina, Gosport. Currently she is temporarily out of action due to a leak in the welded stainless steel fuel tank. Yes, they can leak after some years due to small amounts of water in the diesel accumulating and rusting through the weld. Despite it's size I was able to remove the tank single-handed. I am replacing it with a plastic one sourced from Tek-Tanks in Alton.

Hi All
I have left the dark side and I am in the process of buying a Kelsall Suncat 30 which was allegedly built by Solaris around 1993 and fitted out by the original owner. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was likely and what Solaris' build quality was like at that time.
The survey is happening on Friday and I am going for the sea-trial on Sunday so I should have more info after that.
I hope this wind eases off a little.
Regards
Rob

Hi to all the other Solaris owners. We are the owners of SHANIA a 36 ft Solaris Sunrise. Biult in 1998 but was then fitted out and not launched untill 2000. We are up on the west coast of Scotland at present and have spent a fortune having lots of new equipment fitted. Also had Copperbottom put on. We previously owned a Dean Cat also 56ft. We shall eventually sail down via Sth Ireland across the bay of Bicay to Lagos-Portugal then the Rock and then cruise the Med. We shall try to keep you all informed if we get the opperunity.

Hi Roger, yes we shall try to keep you informed of our journey on this forum. By the way on my previous message the Dean Cat we had was NOT 56ft but only 36.5 ft. A typing error on my part...sorry. We both enjoy looking on the forum and wish you every success with it. Any other Solaris owners please send your comments it will help us all and who knows we may meet up in some distant shore.

Just found your forum. I used to own a Solaris Sunbeam 24 and was interested in 'Dazzlers' comment about putting his in part exchange to Roger Morgan. Does he know where it is now? Triman
